How to read these numbers

  • A poll is a snapshot, not a prediction. Most have a margin of error of 3 to 5 points, so a lead smaller than that is close to a tie.
  • The big number is an average of the most recent polls from the last 30 days (up to six). With fewer polls, it uses the latest ones available.
  • (R) or (D) after a pollster's name means it works for or leans toward that party. Weigh those with care.
  • Ratings come from the Cook Political Report, Sabato's Crystal Ball and Inside Elections, independent analysts who rate how competitive each race is.
  • Every poll links to the pollster's own release. Open "All polls" on any race and use the Original release column to check a number yourself.
  • How we compile the list: we read the public polling tables volunteers keep on Wikipedia, with three safeguards. We only use a version of each table that has stood for at least 3 hours, so fresh vandalism never reaches this page. We drop any poll whose source link points to a different pollster's release. And we drop any row with impossible numbers. Candidate names are fixed on our end.
  • Polls sponsored by national mainstream outlets are left out.
  • queerham does not endorse candidates or parties. This page shows the numbers so you can make your own call.
